Museums Of Toys
Welcome to the museums of toys.
My mother was fond of the old saying....'the only difference between men and boys, is the cost of the toys'. Well that may be true...but if so... let's give some recognition to the girls for their collections. I certainly remember my first Lionel train set, and my very first 2 wheeler bike. I also remember some of the obligations that went along with the collections of things of my childhood. When I was 11 I received a Daisy BB gun for my birthday. I promptly went out and shot a sparrow. My father brought the dead bird into the house and asked me how we were going to cook it! I very quickly learned you don't kill something for fun. There were other lessons to be learned from toys. If I left one of my toys out in the rain.......it was never seen again. Surprise...surprise, owning toys meant you had a duty concerning the care of them. Actually I managed to pass on a few of my childhood toys to my own children. This was probably because of the care I learned to give them when I was young.
I suppose this is why museums of toys are meaningful to me. The toys I had as a boy were much more than just things to amuse myself with...and then be discarded. I hope you will find these toy museums, we have listed here, to be places that will awaken your memories and bring a smile to your face.
