So you are starting to think about your unusual vacation places this year. Let's see.....where will it be.....Aruba, Las Vegas, Key West, London, Europe? For me the whole idea of unusual vacation places is not as much about where I am going. I am much more interested in what am I going to do. Once I decide on what I would really like to do, then I can decide on where to do it. Some of the activities we are going to talk about here may require some movement around a territory. An example of this might be exploring castles in Europe. With this in mind I am going to offer you a few tips on how to pack for the kind of unusual vacation places we are talking about for fun stuff.

If you are going, mountain climbing in Nepal....you probably need to take more of your needed things with you. If your favored unusual vacation places activity is in a highly developed area you do not need to take as much along. Let me go back for a second to the exploring castles in Europe vacation. You do not need to carry your tooth brush and toothpaste across the Atlantic. They sell both these items in most developed areas of the world. The same is true for deodorant, shaving supplies and other toiletries. Buy a comfortable pair of walking shoes....you will thank me for this thought. The types of unusual vacation places we are talking about here are not very sedentary. Take into account the weather for the area where you have planned your activity. You will need appropriate clothing for exploring various sites. Be sure to include some simple rain gear, sun glasses and a hat. Another reason to pack light is the extended check in procedures at the airports due to security concerns.

Some urban areas are rife with pickpockets, so I would advise you to carry a money belt. Also, you need to make sure your travel documents are safe. This may sound a bit silly to you, however, I will tell you anyway....my mom always had me pin my valuables inside one of my pockets so I wouldn't lose them. Arrange to have anything you buy shipped directly home. The key to happy travel and exploration is...keep it light.
